Luciana’s journey in the world of wine is deeply enriched by her global experiences. During the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she served as the Exclusive Sommelier for the Swiss Government, captivating 1,800 attendees with presentations on the culture of Swiss cheeses and wines. She also owned and operated her own wine bar, Cave Suíça, in São Paulo, Brazil, and Lausanne, Switzerland.
As a Brand Ambassador, Luciana represented Swiss and Austrian wines, the Prosecco Valdobbiadene region of Italy, and L’Etivaz AOP, the oldest Swiss cheese style with an Appellation d’Origine Protégée designation. She presented wines at various trade shows, offered masterclasses, and showcased her expertise in regions such as Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Côte du Rhône, Gaillac, and Languedoc in France, as well as American, Swiss, Austrian, Brazilian, Argentinian, and Chilean wines.
Her passion extends beyond wine to cheese, which she is constantly studying and tasting. In addition, her hands-on experience in winemaking includes working as a winemaking assistant in New York’s Finger Lakes Region during the summer.
Luciana’s academic journey adds a unique depth to her expertise. Born in Brazil to a Portuguese family, she lived in Portugal as a teenager before moving to the United States at 19. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Political Science from New York University (NYU), with study-abroad experiences in Paris and Madrid. Fluent in French, Spanish, English, and Portuguese, Luciana relocated to Switzerland in 2009, where she earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Lausanne and obtained her Sommelier Certification from L’Association Suisse des Sommeliers Professionels (ASSP).
Luciana also brings her expertise to The Private Sommelier experience, which extends beyond your doorstep. She organizes personalized winery visits to the picturesque Finger Lakes wine region in New York, offering bespoke tours tailored to your preferences. With a focus on privacy and exclusivity, Luciana draws from her Swiss hospitality background to create exceptional wine experiences.
